K2 Red Angus Females
The Female is the foundation for our program.
She must be efficient - the optimal size for our rough range, and able to thrive on available forages.
She must be maternal - able to calve unassisted and have good natural mothering ability.
She must be fertile - breeding back on time every year in our limited breeding season, and limited feed resources. Two year olds must calve with the cows - no extra breed-back time
No additional inputs for two-year-olds.
If they can do it then - they should grow into the kind of cows we want to raise.
She must be structurally sound - good feet and leg structure, excellent udder structure.
She must have longevity - if she has all these traits she will last into her mid to late teens... and her sons should produce daughters capable of the same lifetime production ... giving more income to their owners -
with less retained replacement heifers to make up for cows culled early in life,
less cost in raising replacement heifers, and
more income each year from selling additional heifer calves or bred heifers.
